Trash, Noise, Winter Maintenance & More
March 4, 2026
Dear neighbors,
We have an advisory and some updates for you!
Noise Advisory
Please be aware that National Fuel is installing an outdoor gas meter at one home today toward the front of Mayfair Lane. So, we just want to make you aware that there will be digging and jackhammer noise during the day.
Holiday Garland
To whomever hung the garland and wreath that was adorning the wrought iron railing overlooking North Street: Thank you for putting it up during the holiday season! If you are looking to retrieve it, please find it in the east maintenance closet.
Trash Reminders
Over the past several weeks, the trash bins in the garbage closet have been overfilled with huge bags of trash, making normal access to the bins almost impossible. Therefore, we’d like to kindly remind you that if it is possible for you to do so, please:
fill the bins furthest away first
if you have a larger trash load than usual, please refrain from adding it to the bins until late-Tuesday/Wednesday morning
Also, please break down boxes and bundle them to make it easier for Rick and the city’s garbage collectors to handle them. Plus, keep in mind that the city may refuse to empty overweight bins, and contractors should not use Mayfair Lane garbage bins to dispose of construction waste.
Winter Maintenance Advisory
This is also a reminder that the upper Lane will not be cleared of snow, but it will be usable/walkable during dry periods. Delivery packages should continue to be directed to the lower Lane, as usual. Please keep the apron area outside your upper door clear of snow and ice in case the need arises to use said door. Otherwise, the door will be frozen shut. There is a bucket of salt/snow melt in the maintenance closet for our use. Please keep in mind that salt is never allowed on the upper Lane.
Thanks everyone, as always, for making Mayfair Lane such a great place to live!
Respectfully,
Your Mayfair Lane Board
