Water Use Policy & Reimbursement Form
Mayfair Lane Inc. Policy for Reimbursement for Shared Water Use
Approved by the Mayfair Lane Inc. Board of Directors, 10/27/21
At the request of neighbors on Mayfair Lane and as discussed at our previous Board of Directors meeting, please consider the following policy to be adopted regarding the seasonal communal use of water spigots on the Lane tied to individual homeowners’ water supplies, and reimbursement for that communal use:
Homeowners who have a spigot on or adjacent to the shared property of Mayfair Lane (house nos. 1, 2, 7, 8, 12, 14, 20) that is used by other fellow neighbors for seasonal garden bed watering and other similar uses may request a reimbursement from Mayfair Lane Inc. for water usage above and beyond their personal use during the peak season for shared use. For these purposes, “peak season” is defined as the months the spigots are on and open for use, as they should be closed for winter months.
Since individual homeowners’ own water use varies, as does the use of each spigot on the shared property, homeowners requesting reimbursement shall do so by submitting a peak season water bill, and an off-season water bill as reference of standard personal use. Any extraordinary factors that should be considered can be submitted in writing along with those bills for consideration. Materials can be submitted to any Mayfair Lane executive committee member by mail or email, and the executive committee will factor those materials to determine an equitable reimbursement amount on a case-by-case basis. The Mayfair Lane Board of Directors authorizes the executive committee to handle these determinations on an as-needed basis.
Reimbursements must be submitted within six months of the issuance date of the latest water bill submitted for consideration to avoid delays or a backlog of requests. Reimbursement requests will be evaluated and issued unless not approved within 30 days of receipt by check.
This policy shall go into effect when approved by the Board of Directors, and shall also retroactively apply to water bills beginning with the peak 2021 season.
Alternately, homeowners with a spigot on the shared property of Mayfair Lane who would prefer not to share use of their water supply may turn the supply to their spigot off.
